Discover the mouth-watering world of Craft Beer during this two-hour Manhattan Tall Ship Sailing excursion. Aboard the beautiful Clipper City Tall Ship, a 158 foot Topsail Schooner, you will discover tasty new brews as you learn about the art of beer.

Departing from Battery Park on the Hudson River, this beautiful 1¾ hour sightseeing sail in New York Harbor is a great way to enjoy the Hudson and NY Skyline. Once you board the ship, the boat will sail south down the River towards the Statue of Liberty, providing amazing views of Manhattan and Brooklyn along the way. During your sail, you will taste several outstanding ales and lagers from New York's Premiere Brewers paired with cheeses and charcuterie.

This NYC Sail is the perfect way to enjoy the water and a craft beer tasting. Whether you are a New Yorker, or this is your first visit to the Big Apple, this beer sail on the East River is one of the best things to do in New York City and an unique gift for every occasion.

The Manhattan Craft Beer Tasting Sails are offered on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, May to October, subject to availability. Sails depart at 7:30 PM May thru August and at 6:30 PM in September.

How Long Is It

The NY Craft Beer Tasting Sails have a sail time of approximately 1¾ hours and a total duration of approximately 2½ hours.

Weather

The New York Craft Beer Tasting Sails run rain or shine, but may be rescheduled by the Captain due to high winds, heavy rain, fog or other inclement weather. If a reservation is cancelled due to weather, you will receive a rain-check valid for one year from that date which can be used towards another reservation. The rain-check is non-refundable.

What To Wear

Dress comfortably, flat, non-marking rubber-soled shoes, layers and sunglasses are recommended for this sailing adventure.

The Clipper City is 158' long, with masts and rigging reaching up 120' from the deck, and is New York's largest sailing vessel. The Ship, which can accommodate up to 144 passengers, is a replica of the lumber-hauling schooners from more than a century ago. It was built in the mid-1980s using plans purchased from the Smithsonian. Her decks are spacious and comfortable, with ample seating, a full bar and a raised quarter deck back aft that allows for unparalleled views of the the New York harbor.

Additional beverages are not included and may be purchased on-board the ship. Participants must be 21 years of age or older and show valid Photo ID upon boarding.

Gratuities for your Captain and Crew are not included but are greatly appreciated and may be offered at the end of the event.

Beautiful Sunday on the Hudson River

We had a beautiful ride with very friendly service. We had five full cups of beer and we heard information about each one which was very informative. The weather was great and the ride was smooth.

Once we were on the ship it was great. The staff was friendly. The boat was beautiful. It was big with plenty of space for everyone to fit comfortably. It is a great idea for groups or couples. There was also plenty of beer to go around while sailing around the harbor.

Question: Will I be able to smoke while aboard the ship?

Answer: No, smoking is not permitted onboard the ship.
Question: Is the ship handicapped accessible?

Answer: Yes, wheelchairs can come aboard and be stored below deck if they need to be.
Question: My wife and I received this Sail as a gift from out Children. What should we wear?

Answer: Casual attire is acceptable. Remember it will be cooler out on the water and they sail rain or shine so be sure to check the weather and dress appropriately.
Question: Are there restrooms on the boat?

Answer: Yes. Sailors will refer to it as "the head".
Question: I am interested in gifting this sail, is the ship actually powered by the wind?

Answer: Of course! The Captain utilizes the sails for the majority of the power, but if the wind is not strong enough he will use the motor.
Question: Can the passengers help raise the sails?

Answer: Sure. If you'd like to help raise the sails just let one of the crew know when you board the ship.
