Beginning near Downtown Los Angeles, your friendly Guide will escort you and the rest of the guests to LA’s first tortilla factory, a nationally-renowned tamale restaurant, the City’s first Birrieria, a contemporary Latin Café and more! In order to discover all of the treats on this Los Angeles Food Tour, you will travel around the Latin heart of the City on foot and on the Metro Gold Line. Of course, this Food Tour wouldn’t be complete without a stop at Mariachi Plaza in Boyle Heights!

The Latin Spice Food Tours are offered Saturdays year-round, subject to availability. Tours begin at 10:00 AM.

The Latin Spice Culinary Tours have a tour length of 3½ hours and a total duration of approximately 3¾ hours.

The East LA Food Tours take place in all weather conditions.

What To Wear

Dress comfortably, flat rubber-soled comfortable walking shoes and layers are recommended for this culinary adventure. Flip-flops, high heels and dress-shoes are not recommended. Hats, sunglasses, sunscreen and cool lightweight clothing are recommended during the hot summer months and will make your experience much more enjoyable.

Tours include 1 to 1½ miles of walking. There are typically nine stops for tastings and enough food is offered that, for most, a meal afterwards is not needed. Water is served along the way, however it is suggested that participants bring their own reusable water bottles. Coffee or tea is served at the first stop, and three subsequent tastings include a traditional beverage.

Children under the age of 5 not participating in tastings do not need a ticket. Tours are stroller and Wheelchair accessible. Pets are not allowed on the tour.

With advance notice to the tour operator, substitutions for dietary restrictions can generally be accommodated.

Gratuities for your tour guide are not included but are greatly appreciated and may be offered at the end of the event.

Question: How spicy is the Los Angeles Latin Spice Food Tour?

Answer: The tour features Latin American Spices, but not is not necessarily hot spicy. If you can handle Mexican food you can handle this tour.
Question: Where does the Los Angeles Latin Spice Food Tour Meet? Is there parking nearby?

Answer: The start location is near the Indiana Metro Gold Station but is subject to change. There is free public parking at the Indiana Street Metrorail Station, and the lot is generally empty on Saturday mornings.
Question: Will they allow us any time for shopping?

Answer: In order to stay on schedule, they ask that you do not shop during the tour. At the beginning of the tour you'll be given a detailed itinerary so you'll be able to go back after the tour and find all of the shops you discover along the way.
Question: How strenuous of a walk is it?

Answer: The tour covers a lot of area but it's partially accessed by the Metro Gold Line. Altogether you'll only walk just over a mile over relatively flat terrain. There are plenty of place to sit and rest along the way and there will be restrooms at some of the stops as well.
