Learn to fly a plane as you take the controls of a Cessna 172 and pilot a light aircraft during this 60 Minute Discovery Flight Lesson in Morristown.

The fun of this hands-on Introductory Scenic Flight lesson begins at the Morristown Municipal Airport, located 30 minutes west of Manhattan. Here you will meet with your friendly Certified Flight Instructor and learn the basics of aviation. Your experience gift begins with 30 minutes of ground instruction during which the CFI will go over the aircraft controls and preflight safety and training information.

Once you have been fully briefed and you are cleared for take-off, the CFI will taxi the plane down the runway. After you are airborne and at the appropriate cruising altitude, you will take over the controls learning how to pilot the aircraft as you fly over Northern New Jersey. You will learn the four fundamentals of flying: straight and level, turns, climbs and descents. While in the Co-Pilot’s seat, you may even spot the New York City skyline in the distance!

The New Jersey Flight Lessons are offered seven days a week year-round, subject to availability. Flights may be scheduled between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

How Long Is It

The Discovery Flight Lessons include 20 to 30 minutes of ground instruction and have flight time of 60 minutes with a total duration of approximately 2 hours.

Weather

The Introductory Flight Lessons may be rescheduled by the Flight Instructor due to severe weather such as high winds, fog or heavy rain.

What To Wear

Dress comfortably, layers and flat rubber-soled athletic shoes are recommended for this aerial adventure. No heels or opened toed shoes.

Unless an Alternative Aircraft Option is selected, the Flight Lesson over Northern New Jersey will take place in a Cessna 172. Participation is limited to individuals weighing less than 245lbs, guest must weight less than 225lbs, and the maximum combined weight of both passengers may not exceed 375lbs.

Individuals who are pregnant, have broken bones or other physical conditions which are considered unsafe conditions are not eligible to participate.

Participants are required to sign a Liability Release Form prior to flight. If the participant is under the age of 18 a parent or guardian must be present and will need to sign the form prior to participation. Participants MUST have a Valid Passport or Birth Certificate and a Photo ID with current address to take part in all Discovery Flight NJ lessons.

Gratuity for the Instructor is not included and should be extended following the flight.

Excellent Flight Lesson

The instructor was outstanding and had me do the pre-flight ground check of the aircraft. A review of all of the instruments and settings and safety procedures. I taxied the aircraft and took off. We landed at a nearby airfield and he followed me on the controls as I set the aircraft down. He was very informative and I gained a lot from this flight lesson. Overall, it was a great experience!

My originally booked gift Discovery Flight Lesson for Saturday afternoon, Sept 19, was cancelled by Certified Flyers II the day of the lesson due to pilot illness. I was offered a choice of alternate dates convenient to me, and I was able to take my lesson the next day. It was fantastic! The instructor gave a clear, informative orientation as he took me around the aircraft for a pre-flight check. I got to take off and fly the Cessna 172 by myself over a beautiful part of northwestern New Jersey late in the afternoon on a sunny day. I don't think the experience could have been better. I will certainly recommend it to friends and family, as well as to anybody else that I have the opportunity to tell about it. I was a little surprised (but not disappointed) that after the lesson there was no mention of possible 'next steps' I could take, such as additional lessons, what it would take to get pilot certification and the benefits of that, etc. I think it was a missed opportunity for your organization - especially, as I am about to retire and will be looking to pursue new interests. In any event, I will look forward to future experiences with your organization.

Very interactive - you get to fly the plane!

Great experience with great people. I lucked out with terrific weather. Everything was set to go when I arrived. And it was a very interactive experience. The pilot explained what things were as we got things ready to fly. And amazingly once we were on the runway, pointed straight, and all clear; they let me do the take off! Once we were up and settled at the right altitude - they handed over the controls and I was able to fly the plane. Steer, adjust altitude, aim towards the right headings, etc. Terrific experience.

Awesome Time

I got this as a Christmas gift from my girlfriend last Christmas because I always wanted to learn how to fly. I finally got around to using the certificate last weekend and I had an amazing time. This was the coolest christmas present ever. I have no experience flying or with air craft so I was really excited to go. I brought my sister along to ride with us too! My flying experience...

I got a phone call few days before my reservation on May 11 that due to weather conditions my appointment is postponed to another day whenever im available so i chose it to be one week later and so it was. Even thou the weather was cloudy the experience was a sunshine! The instructor (Daniel) was 11 out of 10 in all aspects. Surprised my husband with a flight lesson for his 40th Bday. The instructor was very nice, patient and supportive. I was a guest on the flight. Was a bit disappointed when we landed again 35 min after take off. I had read the in air time would be 60 min, didn't think it included landing and exit.
Know my husband was nervous, maybe thats what cut the in air time short. All is all a great experience but wished it would have been longer.

Great time!

I am 15 and have recently gone on this experience. It was exelent. I had a very nice and insightful instructor and the customer service was exellent. He allowed me to taxi the plane (which took some getting used to) and takeoff. The veiw was stunning. I saw some mountain ranges, a large lake, the jets training facility, and several other cool and interesting sights. Overall five out of five experience... great time!!!!

Hi, i took my first flight lesson as a suprise Birthday gift on 7-6-12. Aside from the gift in itself being awesome the lesson itself was great! It was a very relaxed mood and the instructor was very affable although serious about the task. Prior to the flight we were briefed on what to expect and what we were going to do. Next I we walked through the flight check and everything was explained in a very comprehensive and understandable manner. We had a beautiful day of weather adding to the enjoyment of the lesson. All along I felt totally confident that I had absolute immediate support to any concern or issue that could've come up. I took the controls for takeoff and before you knew it we were airborne! As we flew our instructor made it a point to communicate with us constantly assuring us that he was maintaining an on going status check of all aspects of the lesson including our experience. I totally enjoyed the sensory overload of all of these strange sensations of flight in a small Cessna and we ascended, banked, viewed the lay of the land and descended for a pin point perfect landing. Overall I give the lesson and experience an A rating and am inspired to return. Thanks again for making my birthday that much more exciting of an experience!

A birthday gift to remember

I purchased the experience as a surprise gift for my husband's 50 b'day. He does not get easily impressed. But this was absolutely amazing. The day was picture perfect. The plane was (almost) in mint condition (we used SR22). Our instructor was young and friendly. My husband, who for most of his life has been a car racing fan, suddenly got a taste of flying. He indeed felt in control. Once all was done, he couldn't stop talking about it and sharing his experience with friends and relatives, which was very unusual for him. The weather did not cooperate on the initial weekend I made the appointment for. However, it was very easy to reschedule for the next week. I was very excited and nervous to try my hand at flying. Having an instructor that was an expert and professional calmed my nerves. He was also nice and friendly. I had a great time controlling the plane. My fiancee was there to watch and ride along. I think that is one of the best parts. It would have been nice to have gotten a chance to fly over the clouds or swing closer to the Tapanzee bridge, but the clear views were pretty awesome already. My First Flight

Not sure how exciting/exhilarating was the first flight for the Wright brothers, I had a great time sitting at the pilot seat for the first time and able to fly. It was a dream come true. My instructor, Chris, was a great guy and gave me enough time to settle down and experience the flight. Provided an insight into how pilot's go about their routine. Explained each of his actions before and helped me understand the plane better. I'd have liked to fly over my neighborhood and may be a little more info on the mechanics of flight and what I can do to further to indulge myself in more flying. But I'm not complaining. I have been dating my boyfriend for a little over a year and I was having a hard time coming up with a unique 24th birthday gift for him. I ended up choosing this Flight Lesson after stumbling upon ExperienceDays on Google. My boyfriend absolutely LOVED it and said it was the best gift he ever got. I wouldn't even say he's INTO airplanes, but he's loves adventures and prefers experiences over material things. I would definitely recommend this Flight Lesson!! Amazing views, everything you could ask for. I get very nervous when I fly, but our instructor, Brian, made us feel very comfortable and safe. He answered every question I had and was very knowledgeable about airplanes. He felt more like a friend than an 'instructor.' Morristown has a very friendly staff, overall. Helpful advice: We went in August and it was very very hot since the airplane doesn't have AC, so dress according to the weather and make sure you're comfortable. If you are claustrophobic, the plane is VERY small! Smaller than a car! So if you feel uncomfortable in confined spaces (especially if you are a guest and not the 'pilot' you will be sitting in the back seat) this experience might not be for you. If you get motion sickness, this experience also might not be for you. Apparently it's not unusual for people to throw up due to turns and other movements of the plane.

I was initially surprised when my girlfriend got me a flying lesson for my birthday a few months back. However I can say that I am very glad she did. Yesterday was a great, memorable experience. If you have the possibility to take this flight lesson you will be amazed. THIS WAS A GIFT OF MY GIRLFRIEND FOR MY BDAY. Girls I can tell you your BF will love it and love you! It was a very good experience and I only can recommend it to everybody. Not only that the Experience team was helpful in finding the directions from Manhattan to the Airport in advance the people at the airport were so nice to actually pick us up from the train station. The flight itself was amazing. I thought I would only be able to fly the plane for like a couple of seconds. After the take off I took complete control over the plane and the instructor was very helpful in explaining every detail about the handling of the Cessna. I would have never thought to actually fly this plane for an hour. If it wasn't so windy I would have been more involved in the take off and landing. AMAZING!!!!

Question: I would like to purchase this as a Christmas gift for my brother. What is your policy if it is snowing? I would assume you would cancel, but do you reschedule for the next day or how does it work?

Answer: If the pilot deems that it is not possible to fly, then you would be able to reschedule with the flight school for another date in the future at a mutually convenient time to you and the pilot (weather permitting of course).
Question: Can you please tell me the difference between the different flight options: G1000, Cirrus SR20, and Cirrus SR22?

Answer: The Flight Lesson New Jersey options are for different types of planes. Descriptions of these planes are listed below:
Cessna 172 G1000
This Cessna 172 includes a Garmin G1000 glass cockpit which integrates all primary flight, engine and sensor data to provide intuitive, at-a-glance situational awareness.
Cirrus SR20
The Cirrus Design SR20 is a piston engine composite monoplane that seats four.
Cirrus SR22
The SR22, by Cirrus Design, is a single-engine, four-seat, composite aircraft. It is a more powerful version of the Cirrus SR20, with a larger wing, higher fuel capacity, and a 310 horsepower (231 kW) engine.
*Both Cirrus SR20 and SR 22 are equipped with a state-of-the-art glass cockpit, and are equipped with the only U.S. FAA certified aircraft parachute system which enhances safety.
Question: Hi, I was wondering which option I would have to choose in order to fly with my husband, if I chose to get this for him as a gift? Would it be the Cirrus SR20?

Answer: You do not need to choose an additional option in order to join the participant on the flight. The experience takes place in a Cessna 172 aircraft which can hold two passengers plus the Flight Instructor. Individuals must weight less than 225lbs and the total weight of all participans must not exceed 375lbs.
Question: I would like to purchase this experience for my Dad and would like my Mother to go in the plane with him. Do they both get to fly or is it just one person that gets to fly?

Answer: Only one passenger will be able to take the controls and learn to fly the plane during the New Jersey Flight Lesson. The participant may invite one guest to join them for the Flying Lesson, however, the guest will not be able to fly the plane. Question: I am interested in purchasing this for my son as a Christmas present, but I have a few questions. Are there particular flight days established beforehand or do you reach a mutual agreement about the day to go? Is the pilot certified as an instructor?

Answer: The Morristown Flight Lesson is offered seven days a week year-round, subject to availability. Flights may be scheduled between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM and all Pilots are Certified Flight Instructors.
In general, you may purchase an open certificate for the experience you are interested and allow the recipient to schedule the date of the event, or you may schedule the date of the experience at the time of purchase or after by contacting us at 866-973-7436.
Question: I am purchasing this as a Birthday gift for my son. Is tipping customary? If so, how much is appropriate for this service? I would like to send him with enough tip money!

Answer: Gratuity for the Instructor is not included and can be extended following the flight. The recommended amount would be 10% of the price of the experience, however this is optional.
Question: I received the Flight Lesson in New Jersey as a gift from my wife. Is there secure parking (a parking lot) at this location?

Answer: The Flight Lesson New Jersey takes place at the Morristown Municipal Airport. Once you have a confirmed reservation, we will provide you with the address for the flight lesson. There is a parking lot in front of the providers office.
Question: Is there a flight option for passenger weight over 300lbs?

Answer: Unfortunately participation in this flight lesson is limited to individuals weighing less than 245lbs, and the maximum combined weight of both passengers may not exceed 375lbs. These are mandatory regulations are set in place by the FAA.
Question: I'm looking to purchase this experience for my 16 year old son as a Christmas gift. Is he able to control (fly) the air craft at this age?

Answer: Yes, that will not be a problem. The flight school offers introductory lessons to participants over 12 years of age and have a minimum height requirement of 5'. However, participants are required to sign a Liability Release Form prior to flight. If the participant is under the age of 18 a parent or guardian will need to sign the form prior to participation.
Question: How safe are these airborne experiences?

Answer: All airborne adventures offered by Xperience Days are operated by commercial pilots, flight instructors and companies which adhere to the strictest standards set by the FAA. Since 2004, our partners offering flight lessons, helicopter rides, scenic flights, sky diving, hot air balloon rides, hang gliding, paragliding, biplane rides and air combat experiences have had an impeccable safety record. This is because Xperience Days only works with companies that put the utmost importance on equipment maintenance and following all regulations and best practices.
Question: Are there any age, health restrictions or physical requirements for participating?

Answer: Yes. Nearly all airborne experience gifts have restrictions for participation. Why do participants need to meet specific physical requirements? For safety reasons. Light aircraft such as a Cessna 172 plane or Robinson R44 helicopter have specific weight and balance requirements which need to be met for the aircraft to properly function. The weight requirements and restrictions, height limitations, maximum and minimum ages permitted along with any other physical limitations are published in the 'Additional Information' section of each airborne experience offered. If you are unsure whether or not you or a gift recipient meets the requirements, we recommended reading these details prior to purchasing a gift. The restrictions published are to ensure your safety and the safety of the pilot and others. They are not a suggestion, they cannot be changed, exceptions cannot be made. For example, if the weight limit published for a flight lesson is 220lbs, then the participant cannot weight more than this limit fully dress with their shoes on. How will the flight instructor or pilot know if you the participant meets the weight limit? They will need to get on the scale before they are able to get into the aircraft. That's how serious our partners are about safety.
Question: How far in advance do I need to book the experience?

Answer: Yes, there are specific days or times available for the airborne activities featured. Each experience gift includes a 'When It Is Offered' section which details information about when the activity can be scheduled. Many airborne experiences, such as hot air balloon rides, are seasonal and can only be scheduled during specific months of the year and at specific times of the day. This section provides information about available dates and times during which the activity takes place. Dates on the calendar shown in green are the dates we are currently taking reservation requests for; however, they aren't guaranteed to be available. Due to the popularity of these unique gifts, we suggest making reservations a minimum of two weeks in advance. You do not need to make reservations when purchasing a gift certificate. Experience Gifts are delivered in the form of an open-dated Gift Certificate redeemable at the recipient’s convenience, making it easy for them to book the date that works best for them. Question: Where do these experiences take place, is transportation provided?

Answer: 'Where It's Located' is the section of each featured experience gift which highlights where the airborne adventure begins. You may use the zoom function on the map to get more details on the meeting point or airport location. Due to the nature of many aerial activities offered, the route taken for a hot air balloon ride or scenic flight may change due to winds and other weather conditions or FAA restrictions. Can you fly over your house or a proposal sign? Maybe, but that cannot be guaranteed unfortunately. For specific requests such as these, you will need to speak with the Pilot or Certified Flight Instructor once the reservation is confirmed. They will then be able to assist you with all options to make your experience as memorable as possible. With regards to getting to the meeting location, this is generally up to the participant. Unless otherwise stated, transportation to the meeting location for the airport, skydive center or hot air balloon launch site is not included.

Question: What is the cancellation policy in case of unforeseen circumstances or bad weather?

Answer: All airborne activity gifts include a 'Reservation Information' section which can be found towards the bottom of the experience details page. This section outlines the rescheduling policy for that specific activity once a reservation has been made. Nearly all airborne activities require appropriate weather conditions on the day of the reservation in order to take place. The appropriate weather conditions include having the necessary visibility, a lack of rain or strong winds, and other safety considerations required for an enjoyable experience. In the case of weather or mandatory equipment maintenance, the flight instructor or pilot will be in contact with the participant to advise if the date needs to be rescheduled for safety reasons. Reservations cancelled due to weather or equipment maintenance are rescheduled for a new mutually convenient date.
Question: How long do these airborne experiences typically last, is there a briefing or training session before the actual activity?

Answer: Many of the airborne experience gifts featured have multiple duration options. Each activity gift page includes a 'How Long Is It' section which outlines the duration of each activity, including flight briefings, pre-flight instruction and time in the air. This section also highlights whether or not there is an option for purchasing an extended adventure. Options offered for a specific airborne adventure are shown above the Add to Cart button. You may choose an option from the dropdown menu if you wish to purchase an enhanced adventure. If you would like to learn more about the options available, simply press the letter i next to the options dropdown menu for more information. If the gift you are interested in does not have an extended option shown, then unfortunately it is not possible to purchase that activity for a different duration.
Question: Can participants bring cameras or smartphones for pictures, are there any souvenirs included with the experience?

Answer: Yes, participants can bring cameras and smartphones to capture memories during the experience as long as they meet all safety restrictions and requirements. Pictures can be taken, and your pilot will be happy to capture a few moments for you providing it is safe to do so. If you want to wear a GoPro or other hands-free recording device, this is typically fine as well, but you will need to confirm all requirements and regulations with the operator of the activity on the day. Unless otherwise stated, the experience gift does not include or come with photos and video. However, many activity providers offer media packages which can be purchased on the day of the reservation.
Question: Are these experiences done solo, or are they group activities?

Answer: Who is included? This is a great question. The information about how many people can take part in a flight lesson, balloon ride, scenic flight or skydiving experience is shown on each experience gift page within the 'Who Is Included' section located just below the map of where it takes place. This section details the number of active participants included as well as whether or not guests and spectators can join in the fun. Many airborne activities offer the opportunity for spectators to join at the airfield but not in the aircraft for safety reasons and regulations. If the information published states: This experience is not suitable for guests, then unfortunately guests may not ride along in the aircraft. If guests are not permitted to ride along, they can still spectate and take pictures of the participant prior to take-off.

Answer: During a discovery flight in New Jersey, you can expect an exhilarating introduction to the world of aviation. Typically conducted by experienced flight instructors, these introductory flights provide you with the opportunity to take the controls of an aircraft and experience the thrill of flying firsthand. You'll receive a brief pre-flight orientation where your instructor will explain the basics of aircraft controls and safety procedures. The instructor was outstanding and had me do the pre-flight ground check of the aircraft. A review of all of the instruments and settings and safety procedures. I taxied the aircraft and took off. We landed at a nearby airfield and he followed me on the controls as I set the aircraft down. He was very informative and I gained a lot from this flight lesson. Overall, it was a great experience!

Northern New Jersey Flight Lesson

My originally booked gift Discovery Flight Lesson for Saturday afternoon, Sept 19, was cancelled by Certified Flyers II the day of the lesson due to pilot illness. I was offered a choice of alternate dates convenient to me, and I was able to take my lesson the next day. It was fantastic! The instructor gave a clear, informative orientation as he took me around the aircraft for a pre-flight check. I got to take off and fly the Cessna 172 by myself over a beautiful part of northwestern New Jersey late in the afternoon on a sunny day. I don't think the experience could have been better. I will certainly recommend it to friends and family, as well as to anybody else that I have the opportunity to tell about it. I was a little surprised (but not disappointed) that after the lesson there was no mention of possible 'next steps' I could take, such as additional lessons, what it would take to get pilot certification and the benefits of that, etc. I think it was a missed opportunity for your organization - especially, as I am about to retire and will be looking to pursue new interests. In any event, I will look forward to future experiences with your organization.

Very interactive - you get to fly the plane!

Great experience with great people. I lucked out with terrific weather. Everything was set to go when I arrived. And it was a very interactive experience. The pilot explained what things were as we got things ready to fly. And amazingly once we were on the runway, pointed straight, and all clear; they let me do the take off! Once we were up and settled at the right altitude - they handed over the controls and I was able to fly the plane. Steer, adjust altitude, aim towards the right headings, etc. Terrific experience.

I got this as a Christmas gift from my girlfriend last Christmas because I always wanted to learn how to fly. I finally got around to using the certificate last weekend and I had an amazing time. This was the coolest christmas present ever. I have no experience flying or with air craft so I was really excited to go. I brought my sister along to ride with us too! I got a phone call few days before my reservation on May 11 that due to weather conditions my appointment is postponed to another day whenever im available so i chose it to be one week later and so it was. Even thou the weather was cloudy the experience was a sunshine! The instructor (Daniel) was 11 out of 10 in all aspects. I really dont have words to explain how pleased i am and overall this experience definitely out worth the price!

Surprised my husband with a flight lesson for his 40th Bday. The instructor was very nice, patient and supportive. I was a guest on the flight. Was a bit disappointed when we landed again 35 min after take off. I had read the in air time would be 60 min, didn't think it included landing and exit.
Know my husband was nervous, maybe thats what cut the in air time short. All is all a great experience but wished it would have been longer.

Great time!

I am 15 and have recently gone on this experience. It was exelent. I had a very nice and insightful instructor and the customer service was exellent. He allowed me to taxi the plane (which took some getting used to) and takeoff. The veiw was stunning. I saw some mountain ranges, a large lake, the jets training facility, and several other cool and interesting sights. Overall five out of five experience... great time!!!!

Hi, i took my first flight lesson as a suprise Birthday gift on 7-6-12. Aside from the gift in itself being awesome the lesson itself was great! It was a very relaxed mood and the instructor was very affable although serious about the task. Prior to the flight we were briefed on what to expect and what we were going to do. Next I we walked through the flight check and everything was explained in a very comprehensive and understandable manner. We had a beautiful day of weather adding to the enjoyment of the lesson. All along I felt totally confident that I had absolute immediate support to any concern or issue that could've come up. I took the controls for takeoff and before you knew it we were airborne! As we flew our instructor made it a point to communicate with us constantly assuring us that he was maintaining an on going status check of all aspects of the lesson including our experience. I totally enjoyed the sensory overload of all of these strange sensations of flight in a small Cessna and we ascended, banked, viewed the lay of the land and descended for a pin point perfect landing. A birthday gift to remember

I purchased the experience as a surprise gift for my husband's 50 b'day. He does not get easily impressed. But this was absolutely amazing. The day was picture perfect. The plane was (almost) in mint condition (we used SR22). Our instructor was young and friendly. My husband, who for most of his life has been a car racing fan, suddenly got a taste of flying. He indeed felt in control. Once all was done, he couldn't stop talking about it and sharing his experience with friends and relatives, which was very unusual for him. The weather did not cooperate on the initial weekend I made the appointment for. However, it was very easy to reschedule for the next week. I was very excited and nervous to try my hand at flying. Having an instructor that was an expert and professional calmed my nerves. He was also nice and friendly. I had a great time controlling the plane. My fiancee was there to watch and ride along. I think that is one of the best parts. It would have been nice to have gotten a chance to fly over the clouds or swing closer to the Tapanzee bridge, but the clear views were pretty awesome already. Not sure how exciting/exhilarating was the first flight for the Wright brothers, I had a great time sitting at the pilot seat for the first time and able to fly. It was a dream come true. My instructor, Chris, was a great guy and gave me enough time to settle down and experience the flight. Provided an insight into how pilot's go about their routine. Explained each of his actions before and helped me understand the plane better. I'd have liked to fly over my neighborhood and may be a little more info on the mechanics of flight and what I can do to further to indulge myself in more flying. But I'm not complaining. I ended up choosing this Flight Lesson after stumbling upon ExperienceDays on Google. My boyfriend absolutely LOVED it and said it was the best gift he ever got. I wouldn't even say he's INTO airplanes, but he's loves adventures and prefers experiences over material things. I would definitely recommend this Flight Lesson!! Amazing views, everything you could ask for. I get very nervous when I fly, but our instructor, Brian, made us feel very comfortable and safe. He answered every question I had and was very knowledgeable about airplanes. He felt more like a friend than an 'instructor.' Morristown has a very friendly staff, overall. Helpful advice: We went in August and it was very very hot since the airplane doesn't have AC, so dress according to the weather and make sure you're comfortable. If you are claustrophobic, the plane is VERY small! Smaller than a car! So if you feel uncomfortable in confined spaces (especially if you are a guest and not the 'pilot' you will be sitting in the back seat) this experience might not be for you. If you get motion sickness, this experience also might not be for you. Apparently it's not unusual for people to throw up due to turns and other movements of the plane.

Question: I would like to purchase this as a Christmas gift for my brother. What is your policy if it is snowing? I would assume you would cancel, but do you reschedule for the next day or how does it work?

Answer: If the pilot deems that it is not possible to fly, then you would be able to reschedule with the flight school for another date in the future at a mutually convenient time to you and the pilot (weather permitting of course).
Question: Can you please tell me the difference between the different flight options: G1000, Cirrus SR20, and Cirrus SR22?

Answer: The Flight Lesson New Jersey options are for different types of planes. Descriptions of these planes are listed below:
Cessna 172 G1000
This Cessna 172 includes a Garmin G1000 glass cockpit which integrates all primary flight, engine and sensor data to provide intuitive, at-a-glance situational awareness.
Cirrus SR20
The Cirrus Design SR20 is a piston engine composite monoplane that seats four.
Cirrus SR22
The SR22, by Cirrus Design, is a single-engine, four-seat, composite aircraft. It is a more powerful version of the Cirrus SR20, with a larger wing, higher fuel capacity, and a 310 horsepower (231 kW) engine.
*Both Cirrus SR20 and SR 22 are equipped with a state-of-the-art glass cockpit, and are equipped with the only U.S. FAA certified aircraft parachute system which enhances safety.
Question: Hi, I was wondering which option I would have to choose in order to fly with my husband, if I chose to get this for him as a gift? Would it be the Cirrus SR20?

Answer: You do not need to choose an additional option in order to join the participant on the flight. The experience takes place in a Cessna 172 aircraft which can hold two passengers plus the Flight Instructor. Individuals must weight less than 225lbs and the total weight of all participans must not exceed 375lbs.
Question: I would like to purchase this experience for my Dad and would like my Mother to go in the plane with him. Do they both get to fly or is it just one person that gets to fly?

Answer: Only one passenger will be able to take the controls and learn to fly the plane during the New Jersey Flight Lesson. The participant may invite one guest to join them for the Flying Lesson, however, the guest will not be able to fly the plane. Answer: The Morristown Flight Lesson is offered seven days a week year-round, subject to availability. Flights may be scheduled between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM and all Pilots are Certified Flight Instructors.
In general, you may purchase an open certificate for the experience you are interested and allow the recipient to schedule the date of the event, or you may schedule the date of the experience at the time of purchase or after by contacting us at 866-973-7436.
Question: I am purchasing this as a Birthday gift for my son. Is tipping customary? If so, how much is appropriate for this service? I would like to send him with enough tip money!

Answer: Gratuity for the Instructor is not included and can be extended following the flight. The recommended amount would be 10% of the price of the experience, however this is optional.
Question: I received the Flight Lesson in New Jersey as a gift from my wife. Is there secure parking (a parking lot) at this location?

Answer: The Flight Lesson New Jersey takes place at the Morristown Municipal Airport. Once you have a confirmed reservation, we will provide you with the address for the flight lesson. There is a parking lot in front of the providers office.
Question: Is there a flight option for passenger weight over 300lbs?

Answer: Unfortunately participation in this flight lesson is limited to individuals weighing less than 245lbs, and the maximum combined weight of both passengers may not exceed 375lbs. These are mandatory regulations are set in place by the FAA.
Question: I'm looking to purchase this experience for my 16 year old son as a Christmas gift. Is he able to control (fly) the air craft at this age?

Answer: Yes, that will not be a problem. The flight school offers introductory lessons to participants over 12 years of age and have a minimum height requirement of 5'. However, participants are required to sign a Liability Release Form prior to flight. If the participant is under the age of 18 a parent or guardian will need to sign the form prior to participation.
Question: How safe are these airborne experiences?

Answer: All airborne adventures offered by Xperience Days are operated by commercial pilots, flight instructors and companies which adhere to the strictest standards set by the FAA. Question: Are there any age, health restrictions or physical requirements for participating?

Answer: Yes. Nearly all airborne experience gifts have restrictions for participation. Why do participants need to meet specific physical requirements? For safety reasons. Light aircraft such as a Cessna 172 plane or Robinson R44 helicopter have specific weight and balance requirements which need to be met for the aircraft to properly function. The weight requirements and restrictions, height limitations, maximum and minimum ages permitted along with any other physical limitations are published in the 'Additional Information' section of each airborne experience offered. If you are unsure whether or not you or a gift recipient meets the requirements, we recommended reading these details prior to purchasing a gift. The restrictions published are to ensure your safety and the safety of the pilot and others. They are not a suggestion, they cannot be changed, exceptions cannot be made. For example, if the weight limit published for a flight lesson is 220lbs, then the participant cannot weight more than this limit fully dress with their shoes on. How will the flight instructor or pilot know if you the participant meets the weight limit? They will need to get on the scale before they are able to get into the aircraft. That's how serious our partners are about safety.
Question: How far in advance do I need to book the experience?

Answer: Yes, there are specific days or times available for the airborne activities featured. Each experience gift includes a 'When It Is Offered' section which details information about when the activity can be scheduled. Many airborne experiences, such as hot air balloon rides, are seasonal and can only be scheduled during specific months of the year and at specific times of the day. This section provides information about available dates and times during which the activity takes place. Dates on the calendar shown in green are the dates we are currently taking reservation requests for; however, they aren't guaranteed to be available. Due to the popularity of these unique gifts, we suggest making reservations a minimum of two weeks in advance. You do not need to make reservations when purchasing a gift certificate. Experience Gifts are delivered in the form of an open-dated Gift Certificate redeemable at the recipient’s convenience, making it easy for them to book the date that works best for them. All gifts include instructions on how to make reservations.
Question: Where do these experiences take place, is transportation provided?

Answer: 'Where It's Located' is the section of each featured experience gift which highlights where the airborne adventure begins. You may use the zoom function on the map to get more details on the meeting point or airport location. Due to the nature of many aerial activities offered, the route taken for a hot air balloon ride or scenic flight may change due to winds and other weather conditions or FAA restrictions. Can you fly over your house or a proposal sign? Maybe, but that cannot be guaranteed unfortunately. For specific requests such as these, you will need to speak with the Pilot or Certified Flight Instructor once the reservation is confirmed. They will then be able to assist you with all options to make your experience as memorable as possible. With regards to getting to the meeting location, this is generally up to the participant. Unless otherwise stated, transportation to the meeting location for the airport, skydive center or hot air balloon launch site is not included.
Question: How does the gift voucher work, can the recipient choose a specific date for the experience?

Answer: Experience Gifts are delivered in the form of an open-dated Gift Certificate redeemable at the recipient’s convenience, making it easy for them to book the date that works best for them. Gifts can be printed out upon purchase; or, delivered instantly via eMail to you or to the recipient. Plus, certificates can be personalized with a message and include a full description of the gift purchased. Certificates are valid for one year from the date of purchase. After 12 months from the date of issue, the redeemer will be responsible for any price increase for the activity (if there is one at the time of redemption). Worried about selecting the perfect gift? No need to! Certificates valid for a specific activity can be exchanged at any time prior to redemption.
Question: What is the cancellation policy in case of unforeseen circumstances or bad weather?

Answer: All airborne activity gifts include a 'Reservation Information' section which can be found towards the bottom of the experience details page. This section outlines the rescheduling policy for that specific activity once a reservation has been made. Nearly all airborne activities require appropriate weather conditions on the day of the reservation in order to take place. The appropriate weather conditions include having the necessary visibility, a lack of rain or strong winds, and other safety considerations required for an enjoyable experience. In the case of weather or mandatory equipment maintenance, the flight instructor or pilot will be in contact with the participant to advise if the date needs to be rescheduled for safety reasons. Reservations cancelled due to weather or equipment maintenance are rescheduled for a new mutually convenient date.
Question: How long do these airborne experiences typically last, is there a briefing or training session before the actual activity?

Answer: Many of the airborne experience gifts featured have multiple duration options. Each activity gift page includes a 'How Long Is It' section which outlines the duration of each activity, including flight briefings, pre-flight instruction and time in the air. This section also highlights whether or not there is an option for purchasing an extended adventure. Options offered for a specific airborne adventure are shown above the Add to Cart button. You may choose an option from the dropdown menu if you wish to purchase an enhanced adventure. If you would like to learn more about the options available, simply press the letter i next to the options dropdown menu for more information. If the gift you are interested in does not have an extended option shown, then unfortunately it is not possible to purchase that activity for a different duration.
Question: Can participants bring cameras or smartphones for pictures, are there any souvenirs included with the experience?

Answer: Yes, participants can bring cameras and smartphones to capture memories during the experience as long as they meet all safety restrictions and requirements. Pictures can be taken, and your pilot will be happy to capture a few moments for you providing it is safe to do so. If you want to wear a GoPro or other hands-free recording device, this is typically fine as well, but you will need to confirm all requirements and regulations with the operator of the activity on the day. Unless otherwise stated, the experience gift does not include or come with photos and video. However, many activity providers offer media packages which can be purchased on the day of the reservation.
Question: Are these experiences done solo, or are they group activities?

Answer: Who is included? This is a great question. The information about how many people can take part in a flight lesson, balloon ride, scenic flight or skydiving experience is shown on each experience gift page within the 'Who Is Included' section located just below the map of where it takes place. This section details the number of active participants included as well as whether or not guests and spectators can join in the fun. Many airborne activities offer the opportunity for spectators to join at the airfield but not in the aircraft for safety reasons and regulations. If the information published states: This experience is not suitable for guests, then unfortunately guests may not ride along in the aircraft. If guests are not permitted to ride along, they can still spectate and take pictures of the participant prior to take-off.
Question: What can I expect during a discovery flight NJ?

Answer: During a discovery flight in New Jersey, you can expect an exhilarating introduction to the world of aviation. Typically conducted by experienced flight instructors, these introductory flights provide you with the opportunity to take the controls of an aircraft and experience the thrill of flying firsthand. You'll receive a brief pre-flight orientation where your instructor will explain the basics of aircraft controls and safety procedures. Once airborne, you'll have the chance to pilot the aircraft under the guidance of your instructor, who will assist you every step of the way.
