Explore Washington DC via Segway! This exciting Segway Tour of our Nation’s Capital is the perfect way to discover the Washington’s top attractions and experience the thrill of riding on a Segway - the ultimate human transporter!

The adventure begins when you meet with your Tour Guide at the National Mall in Downtown Washington DC. Upon arrival, you will receive brief instructions on how to safely ride a Segway. Once comfortable and ready to roll, your guide will lead you through a fun and educational two hour tour, which will highlight the National Mall, Capitol Building, interesting “Off-the-Mall” spots, and Pennsylvania Avenue. Throughout this sightseeing Segway Tour, you will enjoy historical stories and learn fun facts as tour DC!

The Washington DC Segway Tours are offered seven days a week, mid-March thru mid-December, subject to availability. Tours typically depart at at 9:30 AM, 1:30 PM and 6:00 PM.

How Long Is It

The Segway Tours of DC are approximately 6 miles, include a 15 to 20 minute orientation and have a tour length of 2 to 2½ hours with a total duration of approximately 2¾ hours.

Weather

The DC Segway Tours may be rescheduled by the Guide due to lightning, high winds or other inclement weather.

What To Wear

Dress comfortably. Flat, closed-toe shoes and are recommended for this Segway adventure. Helmets will be provided and must be worn at all times while on the Segway.

Additional Information

Tour price includes use of a Segway and helmet rental. Participants are required to wear helmets at all times, must be at least 16 years old and weigh between 100-260 lbs. Participants must be able to comfortably balance and stand on their own for 2 hours. A water bottle and light snack will be provided during the tour.

Individuals who are pregnant, have broken bones or other physical conditions which are considered unsafe are not eligible to participate. Teens must be accompanied by an adult at least 18 years of age or older at all times.

Gratuity for your guide is not included and may be extended following your tour.

Question: I'm interested in the Washington DC Segway Tour. Do I need to know how to operate a segway before I sign up for the tour?

Answer: No. Riding a Segway is easy. The first 20 minutes of the tour is a quick lesson and is spent making sure you are comfortable riding your segway before you embark on your tour of the nation's capital.
Question: Do you actually stop and go into the building or monuments on this tour, or are we cruising most of the time? Would this be something to do when we first get there and then go back and explore the places we find interesting?

Answer: On the Segway Tour of Washington DC you will spend the majority of the time on the Segway. To avoid what is referred to as "Segleg," will be given the chance at several locations to get off and stretch your legs. Neither the Segway or Bike tours in Washington offer chances to go in and out of various museums, etc. All of the tours are professionally guided and offer a great amount of information about the city's historical monuments and landmarks. Guests will be given any information needed if they would like to go back and visit at a later time.
Question: What do we need to bring on the tour?

Answer: The Segway tour in Washington DC includes the Segway rental, helmet, bottle of water, and a light snack. You are welcome to bring a camera, but please stop before taking any pictures. Sunglasses and sunscreen are also recommended. Backpacks are not recommended.
Question: Is this tour suitable for my 12 year old?

Answer: Unfortunately Washington DC law prohibits anyone under the age of 16 from participating in the Segway tour.
