This tour is guaranteed to raise your spirits! Step aboard the trolley of the doomed and see the darker side of Beantown. Your host, a 17th Century grave digger cursed with a sentence of eternal damnation, will guide you through the City and tell you about Boston’s most sinister characters, from the Angel of Death to the king of all killers, the Boston Strangler.

You and will learn about all the haunts and visit two of the oldest burial grounds in Boston proper. Next, you will visit the Copp's Hill Burying Ground in the North End, nestled atop the tallest point in one of Boston's oldest historic districts. Here you will visit the final resting place of Cotton Mather, a man famous for his "intimate" involvement with the Salem Witch Trials. Along the tour you will be joined by a cast of wretched creatures cursed with a sentence of eternal damnation.

Your final stop is the Granary Burying Ground where you will visit the final resting places of many of the most famous heroes of the American Revolution including John Hancock, Paul Revere and Samuel Adams. This is a scary, fun and informative fright seeing experience that is truly one of a kind.

The Boston Ghouls and Gravestones Tour is offered Thursday thru Sunday evenings, mid April thru May, and a week seven days a week June thru October, subject to availability. Tours depart at 7:00 PM, 8:00 and 9:00 PM.

The Boston Ghosts and Gravestones Tour is rated 'PG-13'. The tour may not be suitable for children under 13 years of age, and anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Children under 6 years of age are not permitted on the tour.

Tours have four stops, including two of Boston's oldest burying grounds, and include walking at each stop. Stops are subject to change.

Ghosts & Gravestones Review

The perfect weather helped to make this a success. But the 5 kids (ranging from7-9 years old) ruined it for most of us! Even the tour guide was frustrated with them. It's really a history lesson on the TRUE facts of Boston's murders, suicides and gruesome deaths - NOT FOR CHILDREN!! The guides were fun (a bit corny) but fun enough. We couldn't hear everything they said because the kids kept interrupting and their parents wouldn't keep them quiet. The kids had colorful glow sticks that took away from the guide's candle-lit lantern and really the whole effect of the spooky grave yards. When we got to the most famous graveyard not many of the tomb stones of those famous people (Paul Revere, Sam Adams) were even pointed out to us - the group I went with really wanted to see these! All-in-all it was an entertaining Friday night, something different to do.

The set up is well done and the tour at 7pm as the sun was setting was fabulous for ambiance. They have to remove the chains and pad locks on the gates to let us in after hours. That was a nice touch. But they didn't show us John Handcocks grave or Samuel Adams and we walked in that graveyard. We realized later we had been right beside them. Maybe if they had pointed out more famous graves. It was creepy that there are so many people buried on top of each other and in the beautiful Boston commons park...

Our daughter gives us a differnet experience every year for christmas, this past christmas she gave us the ghosts and gravestones tour. What a fun time we had. The tour guides were very interesting characters and were very knowledgable about the truth and folklore of boston. Being a cemetary commissioner for the city of chicopee, it was great to see some of the oldest cemetaries in the state. We would definately recommend this tour and maybe even take it again. We did the duck tour a few years ago and that was a lot of fun also!!!

Question: Is there parking near the start of the Ghosts and Gravestones tour in Boston?

Answer: There is a parking garage nearby on Atlantic Avenue.
Question: Would this tour be suitable for a teenage birthday party?

Answer: The tour is not considered suitable for children under 13, and all teens under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Keep in mind this is a historical tour on the facts of murders, suicides and infamous killers, and there will also be others on the Trolly.
Question: How many stops are there on the tour? Are we on the trolley the entire time?

Answer: The tour has 4 stops. The group will get out at each stop for a guided walking tour of the area.
Question: My boyfriend and I have a reservation for this weekend and the whether calls for rain. Will the tour be cancelled for rain?

Answer: The tours will not be cancelled for rain. Some people have said that dark and stormy nights make the tour even better! Be sure to dress appropriately if it calls for rain. The tour will only be rescheduled in the event of extreme whether.
Question: Wheelchair accessibility

Answer: Unfortunately due to the nature of the ghost tour which involves both walking on un-even ground and the need to get on and off the trolley multiple times, it is not recommended for individuals with limited mobility or for those in wheelchairs.
