The fun begins when you arrive at the Downtown Manhattan Heliport located between Battery Park and South Street Seaport. After check-in, you will watch a brief safety video and then be escorted out to the tarmac where you and the rest of the guests will board the Bell Helicopter. Once strapped in, it’s time for lift-off! Throughout the Helicopter Tour you will be able to don your headset and learn about the famous New York City landmarks below. From the Empire State Building to the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, the George Washington Bridge and everything in between - you will have a unique bird’s eye view of the Big Apple!

The Manhattan Helicopter Tours are offered Monday through Saturday year-round, subject to availability. Tours are offered every 15 minutes between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM.

How Long Is It

The Manhattan Tours have a flight time of 12 to 15 minutes and a total duration of approximately 45 minutes.

The New York Helicopter Tours may be rescheduled by the Pilot due to high winds, heavy rain, fog or other inclement weather.

What To Wear

Dress comfortably, flat rubber-soled shoes are recommended for this aerial adventure.

All participants must observe the following requirements:
Must check in all bags with security.
Must walk through a metal detector.
Must have a valid Government Issued Photo ID (Passport or License).
Must pay a mandatory Heliport Security fee of $2.50 PER PERSON.

Heliport Fee Included.

Personal cameras and video cameras are allowed on-board once they are cleared through security. Individuals who are pregnant or other physical conditions which are considered unsafe conditions are not eligible to participate. Participants are required to sign a Liability Release Form prior to flight. If the participant is under the age of 18 a parent or guardian will need to sign the form prior to participation. Participants must be a minim of 5 years of age or older.

The Operator of this tour reserves the right to upgrade, alter or terminate any or all sightseeing tours due to security or weather.

Gratuities for your Pilot are not included but are greatly appreciated and may be offered at the end of the flight.

Helicopter Ride

I had a great time on my helicopter ride over Manhattan. The staff were very friendly and the pilot (whose name I've forgotten) was really good. My only complaint was that I had to pay $32 on arrival which really isn't fair, especially as this had been given to me as a Birthday present. They should just make one pay for everything all at once when booking it.

The helicopter ride was great and the pilot was a pretty good guide and pretty funny, but when I signed up I expected it to be just my guest and I. There was another couple in the helicopter with us. Just wanted others to be aware of this fact. Other than that, an awesome experience.

Nice Experience but Not Extraordinary

So i got the NY helicopter tour as b-day present for my 40th...I was looking forward to it, except that the fees kept adding up. First I was told I had to upgrade to a 15 mn tour as they did not carry the 7 mn tour anymore. That's a first$30. Then I was told the gift certificate dod not include an heliport fee of $30 + security fee of $2.50...Of course I did not mention this to my friend knowing she would have been really embarrassed!... Overall, it was ok but we only got to see the west side of Manhanttan and we never flew over it (probably for security reasons) and most of all visibility was not good bc of weather conditions... Under other circumastsance it would have probably been a better experience.

This is a great way to see the city. It gave me a totally different perspective of New York. The views of the stadium, to central park to ellis island and the statue of liberty were all spectacular...What a feeling to see the city from up above with the sun shinning on the Hudson River. I loved it and recomend this tour to anyone visiting New York city!

Awesome experience! The fit for six in the helicopter is a little 'snug' but the flight was just wonderful. Like others I thought the high cost of the heliport fees a bit sneaky to be hidden in the small print but it was still well worth it.

The ride was an amazing way to see the city in a whole new way. Seeing the new and old Yankee Stadium was great as well as the Statue of Liberty. The 15-20 minutes seem short but it was def enough time! The helicopter was slow enough that we took lots of pics.

The flight was incredible, with amazing views of both the city and NJ. Flying over new and old Yankee Stadium offers a once-in-a-lifetime perspective. Customer service could use some polishing, however. We arrived 1/2 hour before the flight, as instructed, and waited for an hour with no word from the office staff on any delays.

The flight was great. The wait (over an hour) was tedious. You should include the helipad fees etc in the price, as when I arrived I had to pay an additional $57 which is quite alot.

I have flown in a helicopter before, but was really impressed that the pilot on this occasion really went out of her way to make sure that my 11 year-old son got the most out of the experience. The views were spectacular, and certainly provide a totally different aspect on NY than from the ground. If you are going to take the time to visit NY, a helicopter ride like this really is an absolute must.

I have wanted to be up in a helicopter for years. I've always enjoyed flying and had hoped my trip would last longer than 10 minutes, but it was within range of what was promised. What I found disappointing is that we never flew directly over Manhattan (I bet there are restrictions, which I can understand), but we never flew up the East River (with many more landmarks, etc. to be pointed out by the pilot). So, overall, even though I was thrilled to be in a helicopter, it didn't let me fly over (or at least near where I live - E. 36th near the river). Do I want to fly Experience again??? Yes!!!!

This was fantastic, I have never been in one before and am not good with heights but it was brilliant. We spent the weekend in NY and saw it from ground level and the on the water with a dinner cruise but this was amazing. We saw all up and down the river but from a totally different perspective. The staff were really nice and they made the visit really enjoyable. Just flying around the city is such a different way to see it all I highly recommend if you are going to do anything do this and the dinner cruise they really made our weekend.

Question: What is the difference between Big Apple NYC and New York Helicopter Tours?

Answer: The Big Apple Tour is shorts, about 12 to 15 minutes and takes you to the Statue of Liberty and back. The New York Tour takes you to the Statue of Liberty and then up to view some skyscrapers and the George Washington Bridge before you head back to the heliport.
Question: I received the Big Apple NYC helicopter tour for my birthday and we will be driving in from Long Island. Where can we park?

Answer: A parking garage is located within a 5-8 minute walk from the Heliport.
Question: My friend is a student in NY from overseas. Can he participate in this NYC helicopter tour?

Answer: Yes all guests are required to bring a valid photo id as follows: US residents must bring valid government issued photo id. Non US residents must bring valid government issued passport.
